Tech Coalition 'Athena' Launches Pre-Disclosure OSS Vulnerability Triage Platform
Over two dozen technology organizations launched ‘Athena’, a shared platform for triaging open source software vulnerabilities before public disclosure. The platform lets member organizations share vulnerability details under NDA, coordinate fixes across multiple downstream consumers, and stage CVE publication to minimize the window between disclosure and available patches. This addresses a longstanding gap in OSS supply chain security where CVE publication often outpaces fix propagation in widely-used libraries — leaving end-users exposed even after a patch exists. The coalition’s pre-disclosure coordination model mirrors closed-industry practices that have reduced exploitation windows in proprietary software ecosystems.
