US Export Control Directive Forces Anthropic to Disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5

The U.S. government issued an export control directive ordering Anthropic to suspend access to Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all foreign nationals, including foreign-national Anthropic employees, citing national security concerns. Because Anthropic cannot selectively enforce the restriction by nationality, it is abruptly disabling both models for all users worldwide to comply. Access to Anthropic’s other Claude models is unaffected. Anthropic says it received the order without advance warning, at 5:21pm ET on Friday.
